Advanced Network Services

FX Networks owns and operates the only Telco independent multi-gigabit Internet Backbone in New Zealand. We're very proud of it and were very excited to be able to offer our services on a commercial basis to customers who need a serious backbone for innovation.
As well as this were able to offer a high performance on-ramp to the KAREN network - and deliver our customers the best of both worlds - Advanced Research Networks and Advanced Internet Service. We're recognised by the Industry as experts in high performance networking, and how to make the most of high performance networks from a customers perspective.
We're also able to offer a number of value added service enhancements to our Transit service customers that we see may be of value to Hosting Providers, ISPs and Businesses that are serious about being online. We operate a set of services built on advanced BGP routing policies. These are just the beginning of a whole range of "something a little different".
ActiveRoute:
The FX Networks service, DoS-Quench, stops any traffic destined for a host (or hosts) on your network. The mechanism we provide to do this is Remote Triggered Blackholing. This is achieved by you signal to us "Blackhole this host route" using a predefined community BGP attribute from your Border Router. This is automatically redistributed up to our international providers, blocking the traffic as close to the source as possible. If you cannot reach the your router to signal the mitigation, we can do it for you over the phone.
This approach, whilst completely denying service to the affected host (which it typically was anyway) completely stops the collateral damage that a DoS attack typically generates. By signalling this need to us, we automatically blackhole this host throughout our network, and signal this upstream to our International Transit Networks who do the same.
We can stop DoS (or the collateral damage from it) dead - globally.
Anycast
Anycast is an innovative content distribution technique pioneered by the Internet Systems Consortium (ISC) - who are responsible for running one of the 13 critical dns root-servers of the Internet. Its an approach which is ideally suited for content providers who are serving large amounts of data, or the data itself is of critical importance.
FX Networks through our involvement in the pioneering approach with ISC, are well versed in providing anycast content distribution solutions for key customers. Coupled with our OneExchange service were able to offer large scale content providers an approach which allows them to deliver content to peering partners at gigabit speeds - without the need for that content provider to necessarily purchase large scale national or international connectivity.
We can provide a basic anycast service which ensures content distribution into the peering exchanges around the country constantly, or we can provide a "health aware" solution which automatically determines the health and well being of the anycast nodes and adapts the footprint of the anycast accordingly.
New Zealand's earthquake reporting system Geonet is delivered to the Internet via the FX anycast solution. All New Zealanders need rapid, reliable access to that information, and FX Networks is proud to assist.
